Jaclyn McKinstry, MD

做厙TV Langone Provider
  • Specialty: Pediatric Cardiology
  • Treats: Children
  • Language: English

As the medical director of the Pediatric ECMO Program at Hassenfeld Childrens Hospital at 做厙TV Langone, I am dedicated to providing compassionate and comprehensive care to our young patients. My role as a cardiac intensivist in the Congenital Cardiovascular Care Unit (CCVCU) allows me to support families during some of their most challenging times, ensuring that we work together to bring their children home healthy and happy.

I specialize in treating children with cardiac and respiratory failure, using advanced extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) technology to support their recovery. In the CCVCU, I care for infants, children, and young adults with congenital or acquired heart disease, offering medical treatment, surgical interventions, and heart transplantation when necessary. My focus is on building strong, trusting relationships with both the children and their families, which I believe is crucial for effective care.

With years of experience in pediatric critical care, I have developed a collaborative approach that leverages the expertise of a diverse team. This includes working closely with surgeons, consultants, pharmacists, nurses, child life specialists, therapists, perfusionists, and trainees. Together, we ensure that each child receives the highest standard of care tailored to their unique needs.

My journey into medicine was inspired by my early experiences in hospitals, where I witnessed the joy of welcoming new family members. This personal connection to healthcare motivated me to pursue a career in pediatrics. I am committed to advancing the field through collaborative research aimed at improving outcomes for children with severe cardiac or respiratory conditions. Additionally, I am passionate about educating the next generation of healthcare professionals, sharing my knowledge and experience with students, residents, and fellows.
