Twenty-year-old Jane Nouryās journey and challenges growing up as a young trans woman are chronicled in Always Jane, a four-part documentary series streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
Jane had gender-affirming surgery with Rachel Bluebond-Langner, MD, the Laura and Isaac Perlmutter Associate Professor of Reconstructive Plastic Surgery in the , and Lee C. Zhao, MD, associate professor in the and Hansjƶrg Wyss Department of Plastic Surgery, in the midst of the pandemic in 2020. Dr. Bluebond-Langner and Dr. Zhao are also co-directors of °µĶųTV Langoneās Gender-Affirming Surgery Program.

Janeās surgery was a success, and she has never been happier. She is currently a film student at the School of Visual Arts in New York City.
āFor me, personally, I needed to have surgery to help me along the road. I needed that in my transition. But a lot of people donāt need that,ā says Jane. Gender-affirming surgery, though crucial and intensive healthcare for many trans people, is ānot the overall goal, and your life still continues after surgery,ā adds Jane.
