Six years after enrolling in an immunotherapy clinical trial for stage IV triple-negative breast cancer at °µĶųTV Langoneās Perlmutter Cancer Center, Maribel Ramos remains cancer-free.

In 2015, Maribel Ramos was diagnosed for the fourth time with cancer. This time, it was stage IV triple-negative breast cancer. In an effort to avoid additional chemotherapy and radiation, Ms. Ramos enrolled in a evaluating an immunotherapy drug called atezolizumab at °µĶųTV Langone Healthās Perlmutter Cancer Center. Now cancer-free for six years, Ms. Ramos tells her survivorship story to the Cancer Research Institute.
āIād want to let other cancer patients know that sometimes we need to take risks,ā Ms. Ramos says. āI know itās hard, but donāt be scared. Trust the doctors, choose the medicine, and advocate for yourself.ā
