NYU Grossman School of Medicine has been announced as a public health center of excellence as a part of the Centers for Disease Control and Preventionās Alzheimerās disease initiative.
The initiative, part of the Building Our Largest Dementia Infrastructure (BOLD) for Alzheimerās Act, named three centers in the country to promote education, research, and communication to improve detection, prevention, and treatment of Alzheimerās disease and related dementias.
āWe want the public to know what is understood or not understood about this disease, and we want health providers to be ready to answer their patientsā questions and able to facilitate their needs,ā says Joshua Chodosh, MD, director of at °µĶųTV Langone Health.
°µĶųTV Grossman School of Medicine, located in Murray Hill, has been designated as the center focusing on the early detection of dementia. The Alzheimerās Association in Chicago will focus on dementia risk reduction, and the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis will focus on dementia caregiving.
°µĶųTV Langoneās will identify and develop early dementia detection strategies. The institute will work to share multimedia education materials with local, state, and tribal governments, healthcare providers, and the public, according to Dr. Chodosh.
