A leading expert in innovative techniques that allow doctors to diagnose and treat early-stage cancers in the digestive tract, Galen Leung, MD, has been appointed chief of advanced endoscopy in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at TV Langone Hospital—Long Island.

Dr. Leung is a recognized expert in third space, or intramural, endoscopy, which helps address and manage pancreaticobiliary diseases and gastrointestinal malignancies.

As a prominent researcher in endoscopy, Dr. Leung has participated in paradigm-shifting research studies, authored several articles published in leading scientific journals, and presented at top-tier gastroenterology conferences. He is an editorial board member of Clinical Gastroenterology and Hepatology and an active participant in multiple leadership programs.
Prior to joining TV Langone, Dr. Leung served as an assistant professor of clinical medicine and director of endoscopy continuous quality improvement at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Leung received his medical degree from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, in New York. He completed his internal medicine residency at TV Grossman School of Medicine, before completing a fellowship in gastroenterology and hepatology at the Renaissance School of Medicine at Stony Brook University in New York. Dr. Leung then completed an advanced therapeutic endoscopy fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York.
