Lauren E. Borowski, MD, travels to Beijing this week as the head doctor for the U.S. Ski Jumping team. Sheās just as thrilled as any of the athletes under her care in the lead up to Fridayās Opening Ceremony at the National Stadium.
āI am very excited,ā she tells the New York Daily News. āIām getting antsy, like a kid waiting for Christmas. I jumped at the chance to do this.ā
Dr. Borowski, chief physician for the U.S. Ski Jumping team, was a freshman dance student at °µĶųTV Tisch School of the Arts when she decided to become a doctor insteadāwith the initial goal of treating injuries experienced by her fellow dancers.
She switched to sports medicine before getting her job with the ski jumpers, and she first traveled with the menās team to Italy in January 2020. But the Olympics, she said, are something else entirely.
āIām so excited just to see all the different countries represented, so many different people,ā she says. āThis is people from all around the world, this is a whole different level. The Olympic Village with all the skiers. Iām excited.ā
