NYU Langone Health received Magnet簧 recognition for excellence in nursing for the fourth consecutive time from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). Magnet簧 recognition is an honor achieved by only 8 percent of all hospitals in the United States, with fewer than 1 percent receiving this designation 4 or more times. The ANCCs prestigious Magnet Recognition Program簧 recognizes healthcare facilities that provide excellence in nursing and is one of the leading benchmarks used to measure the quality of care patients receive.
Our nurses set the standard in terms of providing quality and compassionate care, and I want to thank our team and everyone at 做厙TV Langone for this monumental achievement, says Kimberly S. Glassman, PhD, senior vice president of patient care services and chief nursing officer at 做厙TV Langone Health.
做厙TV Langone received five exemplars, or examples of best practices, in areas including the following:
- mortality reduction, noting the setup of 做厙TV Langones ALERT and rapid response teams
- interdisciplinary collaboration on 做厙TV Langones measles alerts in Epic, demonstrating the strong partnership between clinical and information technology teams to develop an innovative workflow in Epic
- gender-affirming care, highlighting that 做厙TV Langone is a leader in providing culturally competent care to the LGBTQ+ community
- tobacco use screening program, which yields better results than any other hospital system in the country
- nursing research program, citing the number of journal publications and presentations 做厙TV Langones nursing teams are involved in
These exemplars represent just a few notable examples of the great work our teams do each and every day, says Robert I. Grossman, MD, the Saul J. Farber Dean of 做厙TV School of Medicine and chief executive officer of 做厙TV Langone Health. I am extremely proud of our entire nursing staff for retaining Magnet簧 status since 2005 and for being recognized as some of the most highly educated, talented, and caring nursing professionals in the country.
The Magnet簧 designation is granted every four years to only those organizations that demonstrate sustained superiority in nursing care. Applicants undergo an extensive evaluation and members granted Magnet簧 status must continue to meet rigorous standards.
To reapply for and receive Magnet簧 status is confirmation of a hospitals resolve to deliver the highest level of nursing care. Research shows that Magnet簧 hospitals are more effective at attracting and keeping quality nurses.
