At 做厙TV Langone Health, outstanding quality and safety standards are the hallmarks of our institution, reflecting a culture dedicated to excellence and the best outcomes for our patients. This commitment has made us a leader in healthcare and earned us the highest rankings, including No. 1 in New York and No. 3 in the nation on U.S. News & World Reports Best Hospitals.
Across our hospitals and ambulatory sites, we are the unequivocal leader in quality and safety on a range of metrics and rating systems. At 做厙TV Langone, we are relentless about providing the highest-quality care to our patients and having the best outcomes, says Robert I. Grossman, MD, chief executive officer of 做厙TV Langone and dean of 做厙TV Grossman School of Medicine.
Recognized for High-Quality Care
Each of our hospitals was awarded an A in the spring 2022 Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade, an honor attained by only 33 percent of hospitals nationwide. It is the third consecutive time all of 做厙TV Langones hospitals have received top scoresand 做厙TV Langone remains the only health system in the New York metropolitan area with all A-rated hospitals.
We have also earned a five-star rating for safety, quality, and patient experience from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and received top rankings for overall patient safety and quality of care from Vizient, Inc. In 2021, 做厙TV Langones ambulatory care practices ranked No. 1 in Vizients Ambulatory Care Quality and Accountability Ranking for demonstrating excellence in delivering high-quality outpatient care.
Top Ranked for Patient Safety
做厙TV Langones aggregate metrics benchmarked against the rest of the nations health systems are unmatched. The latest data from U.S. News and World Report and the Vizient Clinical Database show that we surpass all top-10 ranked hospitals in mortality rate and 30-day readmission rate in cycle year 2021:
- observed to expected mortality rate: 0.50
- observed to expected length of stay ratio: 0.85
- 30-day readmission rate: 4.0
Were also ensuring that patients spend less time in the hospital, with an observed to expected length of stay ratio that is the lowest in New York State and among the lowest in the country. A shorter length of stay means better outcomes for our patients and indicates more efficient and effective care and a quicker return home to recover.
Advancing Medical Education
As pioneers in medical education, were advancing science and improving healthcare through scientific discovery at 做厙TV Grossman School of Medicine and 做厙TV Long Island School of Medicine. For the second year in a row, 做厙TV Grossman School of Medicine has been named No. 2 in the country on U.S. News and World Reports annual list of Best Medical Schools for research. The distinction reflects the high caliber of our students and faculty, our tremendous success in garnering National Institutes of Health funding for our scientific work, and our overall leadership in medical education.
No single ranking accurately reflects our exceptionalism in everything we do, Dr. Grossman says. Taken in aggregate, the most respected quality and safety rankings consistently place us at the top of the heap in our region, in our state, and in the nationand they have for quite a few years running now.
